Canoeing/Kayaking Experiences and Courses with Edgbaston Watersports

Activity Summary

From a beginning almost as old as mankind, when the kayak or canoe was part of the process of survival, to the present day, when boundaries of exploration are being rolled back, canoeing is a sport rich in potential for young and old – the adventurous and the less adventurous.

Session Time and Availability

Option 1 (2 1/2 hours) – Designed for the absolute beginner, discover how much fun paddlesport can be. This session can be taken as a taster session, and also forms the first of 3 modules leading to the BCU 1 Star Award should you wish to carry on.

Option 2 (2 1/2 hours) – Aims to provide a safe and fun environment to build up paddling confidence and introduce the concepts of forwards, backwards, sideways, turning and steering in a variety of boats.

Option 3 (All Day) – Aims to improve confidence of all points of paddlesport for the BCU 1 Star Award.

Requirements

Please bring a change of clothes & footwear to go onto the water plus additional warm clothes for the weather conditions

Restrictions

Young people under 16 years should be accompanied by a responsible adult (over 18 years). The minimum age for attending a paddle-sport course is 12 years.

All courses are subject to sufficient numbers and suitable weather conditions and are non-residential.

Option 3: Aims to improve confidence of all points of paddlesport for the BCU 1 Star Award
